SINCE CHARLIE JOE'S BEGINNINGS, CREATION RHYMES WITH COMMITMENT. MURIEL AND PHILIPPE WORK YEAR AFTER YEAR TO FIND A BALANCE BETWEEN INDUSTRY AND ENVIRONMENT, SOCIAL AND COMMERCIAL ISSUES.
01. TO VALUE THE CRAFTS FROM ELSEWHERE
The brand was born out of a passion for the world's crafts and a desire to highlight local and ancestral know-how. This desire has remained the guiding principle of Charlie Joe: click here to discover the techniques used. Valuing this richness cannot be done without respecting the people who make the clothes. That's why we ensure good working conditions for all the people involved, from creation to production. We produce mainly in Indonesia and India, notably for their expertise in looms, their art of embroidery and hand-dyeing. The knitted pieces are made in Peru and China.
02. FAVOUR NOBLE MATERIALS
What are our criteria for the choice of materials? First, the quality of the fibers, we favor natural materials, if possible recycled. Secondly, the feeling to the touch, the piece must be pleasant to wear. We mainly use cotton in different forms (handloom, voile, poplin, twill) but also rayon, viscose and linen. In winter, we add wool, traditional, alpaca or merino, which is often recycled.
03. RECYCLE UNSOLD MERCHANDISE
Each season we try to produce the right amount of each piece. Nevertheless, unsold items remain a reality that we try to recycle. To do this, we first organized sales in our premises in Marseille. Then, we digitized and perpetuated the concept online thanks to our Archives, where you can find all our remaining pieces, at low prices.
04. GETTING INVOLVED FOR OTHERS
Every year, we participate in the 'Gliss and Mix' evenings organized by our partner association Espoir au Sommet. Each year, Espoir au Sommet organizes events whose profits are then donated to the Paoli Calmette Institute in Marseille, to finance research and innovative programs for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
